KDE

I guess I'll have to change the tagline on this blog. I'm not a Linux on Mac user any more. I bought a Thinkpad, a T23 from Ebay. I like Thinkpads. Since I want to run Linux, I decided that I should go with a PC since there is a lot more work done on Linux for PCs than for Macs. The T23 ran the live CD faster than my Mac ran the installed version. And pretty much everything worked right out of the box. I left a partition for XP as I really do need to learn that a bit better. I managed to get an Orinoco wireless card and I didn't even need to install the drivers for Linux. It all just works.I decided to try KDE. I've never liked it and it still has too much junk on the menu. There are some tools that I do like and so I may have to keep using it. I installed JPilot, which is my favorite GTD app. I am going to keep using Emacs, but I don't want to use Planner or Org for GTD. The reason is still on my old Mac. Since they don't sync to my Palm, I don't have the info on the new computer. Until the Palm goes away, I will stick with tools that sync.
The worst thing for me, GTD wise, is that I realized that I'd accomplished most of the goals I had for this year. I have a new job, we sold the house and moved to the woods. I have got to do some planning and figure out where to go from here. We've been so focused on selling the house and moving that I'd forgotten to plan beyond that. We still need to build a cabin or at least a cover for the trailer before winter sets in. I guess that is probably enough to focus on for the rest of the year. It just reminded me why I need to review more often.
