Happy

I am so completely happy with Mobile Notes that I am tempted to delete this blog. I can put things into memos and find them easily now. I like the interface and it's easy to use. I haven't had any temptation to tweak a thing. I may go ahead and register Uninstall, but I'm not sure. If I'm happy with what I have now, I probably won't be installing as much software. I'm just so glad that I found a program that really works for me.
I bought the wrong software...

I'll bet that you've had this happen to you, if you've bought any Palm software at all. You buy a product that you think is exactly what you need. Sometimes this happens even if you've tried it for awhile. Then, after you've bought it, you find software that really is perfect.
I bought Acrowiki, thinking it would be a great way to integrate wikis into the Palm memos database. I've come to dislike it. In fact, most of the time I use it, it makes me long for Note Studio. I can't get it to save the formatting I want. It insists on running all the links together. I've tried it several times and I feel the same way about it every time I use it. Then I found a link for Mobile Notes. Now THAT is what I was expecting Acrowiki to do! The first time I used it, my memos looked great. It's easy to add a little formatting to get a great looking page of links. I added some formatting shortcuts into Shortcut5, but many of the formatting codes are available with just a tap in the application. This is the first time I've felt that I can really put everything into memos and find it easily. I am really, really happy to have this app and I registered it within a week.
Wikis

I spent a little time trying to put my system into wikis, before I gave it up. The one I can run on this Mac is Personal Wiki, which kept reformatting stuff after I'd saved it. If I had a wiki that would use the same formatting as Acrowiki, I might be able to do it. It's a poor use of time to rework the same thing over and over, just to make the format look good.
I've gone to using Wiki names for my project memos. This works out nicely since PSLink reads wiki names now. There's not any clunky formatting to add. I'd been taking a second look at pedit, with the idea of building some pscripts. Decided against that and reinstalled PSMemo & A5. The longer I play around with GTD, the less I care about how this stuff looks. If I can just find it, I'm happy. I tried creating individual memos for the bills I normally pay. Then I put an amount and a due date in it. I ran Find Memos and created a memo index to those that are due now. I haven't decided if I want to keep it that way or go back to either todo or datebook reminders.
Out of all the stuff I tried, I like TiddlyWiki the best. It's an html page that you edit. It really is slick. You set up wiki named headings and then it lets you go in and edit those to add extra info. It runs a javascript to do this. When I have more time to play with it, I might set that up to use during weekly reviews.
