Knitting and me
I've been knitting for a long time now. There are times when I seem to be a knitter that spins. Right now, I seem to be a spinner who knits. I am planning to focus entirely on ethnic style knits made from handspun. I sometimes feel like I've wasted too much time making quick throwaway knits out of commercial yarns. I'd like to tackle some longer projects, trying as much as possible to knit from start to scratch they way they used to make knits.
Favorite projects
I seem to do a lot of socks and plan to create the perfect handspun sock yarn. Most of my completed projects will show up on the blog. As I come up with new projects, I'll try to go into more detail on this page.
I also love doing lace and have been working on shawls lately. I love shawls. I think I would rather knit shawls than anything else. In the coldest part of winter, I even slept under one. It's Myrna's Fenna design, knit from handspun Romney lambswool. I like that shawl better than the fancier ones.
I think there is something to be said for making your own clothes in these days of cheap throwaway clothes. It is something to make a beautiful sweater than can be handed down and worn for many years. Those things have more value than something made commercially.
