Spinning and me
I like spinning, whether spindles or wheels. I've been spinning since the 70s and started out with a locally made low whorl spindle. Moved on to a wheel at some point, the Pipy that you see in the picture. It's a great little wheel that needs work but still spins. I lost interest in spinning for a bit because my Pipy is designed for fine spinning. When I read the spindle issue from SpinOff in 1995, I thought it was time to give spindles another try. Now I do most of my spinning with my spindles. I also have Louet S10 that I love. I even spin cotton on that wheel.
I started the Spindlitis list many years ago. I started out having people just mail me messages and I would combine them all into a digest. The list travelled around to different servers and finally wound up on Yahoo. It's the only group devoted to just handspindles. We hope you'll join us. It's a great place to learn.
My focus these daysI've been doing some custom spinning for the Handspun Fiber Group. I've done some custom knitting in the past but I am finding that custom spinning is a lot more enjoyable. I am really limited in the space I have for my wheels right now, so mostly I spin with my spindles. Even though I'm short of space, I seem to have fiber piled everywhere. When we moved, I moved several large Rubbermaid bins full of fiber. And then I bought a couple more fleeces at Black Sheep last year. So I've got plenty of raw material to work wit
